When Egnyte drive disappear, it’s time to change your password

Start by going to the skillcreations.egnyte.com website and logging in.  The website should prompt you to change your password when you log in.   If you are already signed in to Egnyte, sign out at the top right and then sign back in.  This will definitely prompt you to change your password.

Change your password to one you can remember.  Egnyte requires a strong password, and it will prompt you when it’s strong enough by turning green.

Once the password is changed, log into Egnyte.  The log in should happen automatically after the password change, but if it does not, go through the log in process to get into the website.

Now you will have to update the password for the Egnyte Desktop Connect app that you use on your computer.  In the taskbar of your desktop (bottom right of screen, click the little up arrow), right click on the Egnyte Connect icon.     (if the app isn’t there, Type “Egnyte Connect” into your search bar and select it when it gives you the option.  The search bar is on the bottom left of the screen next to the windows icon.  When it turns on in the task bar, then follow the previous step).

When the app opens, click the three little lines to the left,

**And then click the three little stacked dots next to one of your drives

The three little dots will give you a menu where you can choose to connect your drive.  Select “connect”

Now the fun starts.   The connect command will more than likely prompt a browser window to appear and a message will tell you the handshake failed, making all hope seem lost. The good news is that you can close that window.  What will remain is the Egnyte Connect app sign in window.  In this window, select “Sign in with a different account” in blue.   Keep all of your credentials the same as you “continue” through a couple of screens, but when the password box appears, enter your new password and the app should connect.

If you have more than one drive to connect, go back to the app in the taskbar, right click, then click on the gear icon, then the three little dots of the disconnected drive, and select connect.  You should not have to enter any credentials for the second drive if the first one connected properly.
